The benefits of a specialist survey should be very obvious but if not, here's some clues:-
A failure to identify the root cause of a problem leads to an incorrect drying regime and an incorrect re-instatement program.
Both of these waste time and money and often have to be re-done which not only escalates claim costs, it does little for the policyholider's expectations.
A specialist survey identifys the cause and details the remedy which significantly reduces claim costs - generally, the savings made, more than outweigh the survey costs.
The two photos above show parts of the the same wall, the left shows the inside of a flank wall whilst the right shows how the flank has become a poorly maintained party wall as (many years ago) someone built against it.
Neither has a conventional DPC.
Is the visible damp caused by a flood as had been implied?
Can it be sucessfully dried as someone suggested.?
Did anyone carry out an in-depth survey? ........No
Will there be a repercussion from this? ............Very likely
