Salt Analysis Kits

Two types of 'salt' are commanly found in propertys and both cause problems for the drying contractor and builder alike.

Nitrate

This type of salt is predominantly found in the ground and therefore, when we find it in a wall, we can assume that the wall has a damp issue associated with 'rising damp'.

This could be a historic problem since many older properties don't have damp proof courses, but this could also be caused by urine and other contaminates (barn conversions?)

Chloride

This type of salt is normaly associated with a leaking pipe (since tap water is chlorinated), however it is also caused by burning organic materials, so it is common to get a positive chloride test on a chimney breast

The Kit is supplied in a tough aluminimum flight case and contains:-

500ml of deionised water

10 nitrate test tablets

10 chloride test tablets

1 collecting spoon, & 2 test jars (labelled nitrate & chloride)

1 laminated set of instructions

1 colour guidance chart.

This is enough to carry out ten Nitrate and Chloride tests.
